The Swakopmund Hotel
and Entertainment Centre was the battlefield where our young minds fought tooth
and nail for victory. The Namibia Chess Federation hosted its 2022 Namibia
Junior Closed Chess Championships over the weekend of 30 April - 1 May 2022.

Shaun Kanelombe - B/U8 Chess Champ |
We had 5 students from
MCA taking part in this event and came home with 4 medals.
We had Shaun Kanelombe
in the boys U/8 section winning gold with 4/7 matches, etching out his rivals
with a superior tie-break. Shaun has won his second gold medal for the year.
In the Girls U/12, we
had our WCM Ottilie Hinda battling her peers and she scored 5/7 to take home
the bronze medal. She won a gold medal earlier this year which makes it her 2nd
medal for the year. We also had Ngujama Kaputuaza who scored only 2/7 in her maiden
chess tournament. Ngujama learned a lot and can't wait for her next event.
